17-year-old arrested after shots fired, fight

Wednesday night at approximately 10:05 p.m. Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a fight and shots fired call in the 2200 block of northeast 6th.

When officers arrived three people were walking away from the area. These individuals were questioned while other officers went to another residence where more people involved were reported to be located. Officers also detained these individuals for questioning.

According to APD, a Police K-9 unit was called in and two more people were found hiding in the house. APD also spoke with witnesses at the scene. Through their investigation, police found two .22 caliber rifles, a 12 gauge shotgun and a .380 pistol. The pistol was later determined to be stolen out of Randall County.

17-year-old Christian Alexis Mata was arrested for aggravated assault, theft of a firearm and unlawfully carrying a weapon. Mata was booked into the Potter County Corrections Center.

Another individual was also arrested on outstanding municipal court warrants APD said in a news release.

APD said there were no injuries by the shots fired reports and that the case is still under investigation.
