      $15,500 goes to Clovis, Portales organizations

      David Essex of Xcel Energy, presented $15,500 in grants to local organizations from Clovis and Portales.

      Accepting the grants from the different organizations are (L-R) Christy Mendoza (CCC), Emily Nail (Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails-holding sign) Natalie Daggett (CCC), Lisa Pellegrino Speer (Clovis Main Street), Dr. Becky Rowley(President of CCC), Lisa Dunagan (Clovis Main Street), and Noelle Bartl (ENMU Foundation).

      Noelle Bartl, (far right) executive director of the Eastern New Mexico University Foundation in Portales, received a grant for $5,000 Xcel Energy for the Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) grant. According to Bartl, the funds are distributed to applicants in the AMP program benefiting minority students in science, math, engineering and technology programs. Over the years, Xcel Energy has donated $49,000 to ENMU AMP and other programs benefiting ENMU students.
