127 lbs. of marijuana seized during traffic stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) conducted a traffic stop on I-40 Thursday yielding 127 pounds of marijuana valued at more than $563,000.
At approximately 6:32 p.m., a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Ford Explorer near Conway in Carson County.
The occupants of the Explorer were identified as Joshua Aaron Weitz, 31, of San Francisco, and Richard Ayala, 23, of South San Francisco, Calif.
During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 116 bundles of marijuana.
Weitz and Ayala were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds, a first-degree felony, and booked into the Carson County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from San Francisco to St. Louis.
