On Wednesday night, the annual battles between Amarillo law enforcement and firefighters kicked off with a barbecue cook-off.
The 100 Club annual meeting featured a lot of brisket, sausage and other savory dishes at the ashmore inn. The club's primary purpose is to support the men and women who risk their lives protecting ours. It serves the 26 panhandle counties so they're asking for volunteers.
â??We are the first to respond to firefighters or police officers that are seriously injured or killed in the line of dutyâ?? said Jeff Mitchell of the 100 Club. â??We also try to give them lifesaving support and devices.â??
Boxers for the annual battle of the badges fundraiser in October were also introduced.
