A 15-year-old girl is dead and two other teen girls are fighting for their lives following a rollover crash in Wheeler County.

The wreck happened Sunday night around 6:45 p.m. on County Road 4, about five miles northwest of Mobeetie. Kynna Peers, the driver of the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe involved in the crash, was pronounced dead on scene, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS said the wreck happened when Peers left the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The Tahoe rolled multiple times, killing Peers and seriously injuring 16-year-old Hannah Shepard and 18-year-old Heather Bell. Shepard and Bell, both of Mobeetie, were air-lifted to the hospital.

According to DPS, everyone in the vehicle was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. However, DPS said "speed is believed to be the contributing factor to the crash."
