1 killed, 1 injured after pickup falls off forklift

Emergency officials on scene after receiving reports of the pickup falling on two people.

UPDATE: APD has released the identities of the victims involved. The male victim was identified as 39-year-old James Carey Gallaway and the female victim was identified as 33-year-old Kristin Lane Messer. According to APD, Messer's injuries are now reported as non-life threatening.

According to the Amarillo Police Department a man was killed and one woman was severely injured Tuesday after a pickup truck fell off a forklift and landed on them.

APD said officers responded to HD Wrecker Service in the 6100 block of Canyon Drive Tuesday afternoon after receiving reports of a workplace accident.

Responding officers learned that two employees had been working under a pickup that had been attached to and lifted with a fork lift. APD said the pickup then fell off the forklift killing the man and trapped the woman under the vehicle. The woman was able to use her cell phone to call for assistance.

According to APD the woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. APD has not released the names of the victims at this time.
