Good Life, Good Food:Pan Seared Tilapia w/Garlic Butter Sauce


I'm not a huge fan of tilapia, but the flavor of tilapia is perfect for this wonderful garlic-lemon sauce. You will find this to be a very cost effective and flavorful dish. Surprise your friends and family by adding this incredibly fresh flavor to your pan seared tilapia!


  • 1 ½ lb tilapia fillets
  • 1 ½ Tblspn butter
  • 1 tsp sweet onion, finely diced
  • 1 Tblspn garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp McCormick smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp McCormick coarse ground pepper
  • 2/3 C chicken stock
  • 1 ea lemon, juiced
  • ¼ C parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 Tblspn cilantro, chopped


Rinse tilapia and dry with paper towels

In saute pan over medium-high heat, add butter and sweet onion. Saute until fragrant.

Add garlic, tilapia, smoked paprika, kosher salt and pepper and lemon juice. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, until tilapia turns white.

Reduce the heat and flip the tilapia fillets. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and cilantro. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the fillets are solid white and flaky.

Plate on a bed of wild rice pilaf and drizzle sauce reduction from the saute pan. If your sauce is thin, cook a few minutes more over medium high heat. Sauce will reduce and thicken.
