Tue, 01 Oct 2013 04:28:39 GMT — The Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument would close Tuesday if no budget deal is reached in Congress.Up to 94% of National Park Service Employees would be furloughed.There would be no hunting allowed and Flintfest 2013 could be cancelled.The Superintendent of Lake Meredith, Robert Maguire, says, "We want to protect the resources for future generations. In order to do that we??ve been ordered to shut everything down. Keep a skeleton staff to prevent vandalism. We??ll start shutting our doors unless Congress gives us appropriations."
