Brewer was found guilty and sentenced to death for the killing of Robert Laminack, 66, in 199 0 . In April, the Supreme Court ruled that the jury wasn't allowed to sufficiently consider the abuse and neglect Brewer suffered as a child. Randall County District Attorney James Farren announced in May that he would re-try the punishment phase of the trial after finding there were sufficient evidence. Farren said he believed there is enough evidence to support the death penalty but didn't know if a jury would agree with him.
