Explosion at fertilizer plant southwest of Fort Worth

Fertilizer plant explosion (KDFW)

Firefighters are battled a massive fire after an explosion at a fertilizer plant southwest of Fort Worth.

One person is missing. Another has been airlifted to a hospital.

The blast happened at Tri Chem Industries in Cresson -- 25 miles southwest of Fort Wort -- on State Highway 171.

Cresson city secretary Hannah Rhodes says emergency responders have been evacuated from the vicinity because of fears of another explosion.

She said she observed black smoke in the sky from City Hall, several miles from the site.

City leaders are telling anyone who came into contact with smoke to go to the hospital and get “checked out,” according to KTVT.
